Point of sale and stock

Staff PINs and switching

  1. Help
  2. Businesses
  3. Point of sale and stock

Each person signs in to the point of sale with their own PIN, and taps Switch to hand over.

In the app and on the web dashboardEste artículo en español

Everyone signs in to the point of sale with their own PIN. Each sale, payment and stock move is then recorded under their name.

Set your PIN

  1. In your own Phuse app, go to Settings, Security, My point of sale PIN, and tap Set a PIN.
  2. Managers and owners choose 6 digits. Everyone else chooses 4 to 6.
  3. Easy PINs, like 1111 or 123456, are refused.

One PIN works for every team you're on.

On the tablet

  • The point of sale opens on a lock screen. Tap your name and enter your PIN.
  • Your name stays at the top. Tap Switch to lock it and hand over.
  • It locks when no one has touched it for a while (2 minutes by default), and when the app goes to the background.
  • It can also lock after each sale. Set both on the dashboard's Point of sale tab, under Locking and approvals.
  • With no signal, only people who signed in on that tablet today can switch back. Turn this off with Allow switching staff without signal.
  • Only people whose role lets them take payments appear on the lock screen.

Setting someone's PIN on the tablet

Someone with no PIN can set it on the lock screen. Phuse sends a code to their own Phuse app, and a manager enters their PIN to confirm.

Wrong PINs

  • 5 wrong tries lock the PIN for 5 minutes.
  • The next 5 wrong tries lock it for 30 minutes.
  • After that, it stays locked until a manager resets it, or the person sets a new PIN in their own app.
  • The person gets a notification each time their PIN locks.

Resetting a PIN

On the team screen, or the dashboard's Point of sale PINs card, tap Reset PIN. The person then sets a new one. Nobody can see a PIN.
