Each cash drawer runs in shifts: open it with a counted float, take sales, then count it and close.
Add drawers on the dashboard's Point of sale tab, under Cash drawers. Add one per till, at your business or at a stall's event.
- On the point of sale, choose which drawer this tablet uses. It's remembered.
- Tap Drawer, then Open shift. Count the float by notes and coins, or enter the total.
- Take sales as usual. Cash needs an open shift.
- To close, tap Close shift. Count the drawer, then add the card machine's batch total if you have it, and a note.
During the shift
- Money in, Money out, Drop to the safe, and No sale to open the drawer for change.
- Money out and no sale need a manager by default.
- The X report shows where the shift stands, without closing it.
- To use another drawer, close this shift first.
Closing and the Z report
- The Z report is the shift's final report: payments by method, refunds, giveaways, money in and out, card total, tips and who sold what.
- Closing is blind. Cashiers see only what they counted.
- Only managers see the expected cash and whether it's over or short. Cashiers' X reports leave out the cash figures too.
- Closing warns you about open tabs. Their payments go on the next shift.
Without signal
- Cash sales keep working. Opening, closing and reports need signal.
- A cash sale rung up offline before the close, and sent within 6 hours, goes on that shift as a late sale.
- Cash rung up after a shift closed goes on the next shift opened on that drawer.
- Until a shift opens, that sale waits on the tablet.
On the dashboard, Shift history lists every shift and flags any that ran past 4 AM. Open its X or Z report, or download it as CSV.
